This policy explains what The Overview Effekt (overvieweffekt.com, the "Site") collects about you, why, and what you can do about it. The Site is operated by Jackson Veigel, an individual based in South Dakota, United States. Questions go to contact@overvieweffekt.com.
What we collect
Account. When you sign in we receive your email address and, if you use Google, the name, profile picture and account identifier Google shares. If you add a display name in your account settings, we keep that too. Accounts are stored and managed by Clerk on our behalf.
Membership and payments. Stripe processes payments; we never receive your full card number. We and Clerk see your subscription status, plan, billing history and the last four digits and country of your card.
Usage. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and debugging. We use Vercel Analytics, Vercel Speed Insights and Simple Analytics for aggregate, cookieless statistics about which pages are visited and how fast they load; none of these builds a profile of you.
Messages. If you email us we keep the correspondence.
Cookies
Signing in sets session cookies from Clerk, which are necessary for your account to work. We set no advertising or tracking cookies. Embedded YouTube videos may set their own cookies under their own policies.
How we use it
To run your account and membership, take payments, keep the Site secure, understand in aggregate how the Site is used, and reply to you. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
Only the services that run the Site: Clerk (accounts and billing), Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting and analytics), Simple Analytics (statistics), Google (if you sign in with Google), and YouTube where its videos are embedded. Each handles your data under its own policy. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Where it is processed
The Site and its services run in the United States. If you are elsewhere, your data is transferred there.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Manage account, which removes it from Clerk; billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Server logs and analytics are retained by those services for their standard periods.
Your rights
You can see and change your account details from Manage account, and delete the account from the same place. For anything else, such as a copy of your data or a correction, email contact@overvieweffekt.com. If you live somewhere that gives you specific privacy rights (for example the EU, UK or California) we will honour them.
Children
The Site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has made an account, tell us and we will delete it.
Security
Accounts and payments are handled by Clerk and Stripe, whose security practices are documented on their sites. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you we will tell you.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top says when it last changed; material changes will be noted on the Site.
