The Name
The "Overview Effect" is a supposed cognitive shift reported by astronauts when viewing Earth from space: A profound realization of our planet's fragility and the interconnectedness of all life. While I doubt shipping everyone up into space will cure us of our self-centered myopia, it has come to represent an effort to see the world and our place in it from a higher perpsective.
The name "The Overview Effekt" (with a 'k') was chosen because the domain name was available.
My motto (if I started having a motto) would be:
